Thami Radebe Road Heroes Award

Who was Thami Radebe?

Thami Radebe was a diversity and disability consultant with a Bachelor’s degree in communication science and a certificate in marketing management.

He first became interested in ethical road use after assisting Dr Lee Randall with her minibus taxi road safety research. He co-founded the Road Ethics Project with the intention of helping people become more ethically literate about road use, recognizing that better decision-making requires a change in attitude – without which there may be devastating consequences like disabling injuries and loss of lives.

Sadly, Thami passed away unexpectedly in March 2021 due to a brain tumour; his loss is keenly felt by his loved ones and in our Project.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Award was suspended in 2020 and 2021. It was re-launched in 2022 as the Thami Radebe Road Heroes Award, to honour our late co-founder.
